1994年在华南师范大学生物系获博士学位。
1994-1996年在华东师范大学生物系从事博士后研究,1995-1997年任华东师范大学生物系副教授,1997-2004年先后在日本大阪市立大学理学部和美国南伊利诺斯州立大学医学院进行访问工作和博士后研究;2004年至2009,在美国贝勒医学院分子生理学和生物物理学系先后从事博士后研究和任Instructor;2010年受聘于华南师范大学生命科学学院,任教授、博导,院教授委员会委员、校学术委员会(第七、八届)委员。
为博士生、硕士生、本科生(勷勤创新班、生物科学、生物技术专业)讲授“离子通道学”、神经生理学”、“现代神经生物学进展”、“高级神经生理学”、“细胞的跨膜信号转导”、“分子细胞生物学”、“神经生物学/生理学实验技术”、 “人体及动物生理学”和“人体解剖生理学”等课程。
主持国家自然科学基金、广东省自然科学基金、广东省教育厅引智专项及广东省教育厅研究生示范课程等项目,曾参与多项美国NIH研究项目。
